The Pheasant 0 V 4 The Bridge Tavern ATT: 23

T. Gibney 3

J. Edwards 1

For the last game of the pre-season The Bridge where again away, this time to The Pheasant in the Great Village of Forest Town where the likes of Mr & Mrs Mellor’s are from. Before the game started I haven’t got a clue what happened or what the team talk was as I arrived 1 minute before kick off due to having to park my car in Ollerton. In fact I dint even know I was in the starting line up.

When we finally got the game under way the team lined up as followed:

Lormor

Scott W Quiche Ashley Gav. B

Geary Neil Kirk Mellors

Manc Tony

The Bridge started off strong with most of the possession, and soon we where 1-0 up with in about 10mins due to a through ball to Tony as he lobbed the keeper into the top right hand corner, in the next 5mins The Bridge doubled the lead, a cross from Geary for Tony to coolly head home. Geary even applauded the crowds chants of “he’s taking the piss and he’s over 50”. The pheasant nearly pulled a goal back, a ball over the top of the Bridge’s defence where one of the forwards was that far offside he may have well have been playing on the other pitch, but the linesman’s flag stayed down, but he wasn’t even watching the game. No mention of who it was, Ganna the Clown!! To which he got some abuse of his own teammates.

For the rest of the half Bridge’s defence was hardly called into action apart from when the Pheasant broke down the right hand side and with Lormor in no mans land (or women’s land can’t be sexist) came charging out of his net, the forward shot on goal for Ashley to be there to clear of the line.

The Pheasant 0-2 The Bridge Tavern

Before the half started subs where made I don’t know who so I aint even going to bother.

The second half began a little better for the Pheasant, putting more pressure on the Bridge’s defence hitting the bar and having another shot cleared of the line by Ashley, not much was getting past the flying Quiche who was winning every header even the Midfielders and forwards! The next goal came due to some neat play in midfield, which put Jay, younger brother to the piss head Gavin Edwards through on goal which he calmly slotted home 3-0. The next goal came soon after another great bit of play in the midfield with the ball dropping to Tony who shot over the keeper and made it 4-0. At the point the Bridge relaxed. With about 10mins to go lormor was called into action as Lormor tipped a shot flying towards goal over the bar, all im saying is that it was easier to catch than tip over the bar. From the resulting corner a headed shot was heading straight for goal with Lormor beat for Leigh to acrobatically save it on the line.

Not the most competitive match, but a good run out, and good to end pre-season with a win

Men of the match: Quiche and Tony
