Back to Reality

Speaking after the game away at Darlington, which saw the Stags get thrashed 4-0, Shirtliff said "The people of Mansfield are still thinking play-offs, but we have no chance of that. We have to get back to reality and concentrate on avoiding relegation," said the Stags boss.

"It was obvious why we lost. We were inexperienced, young, weak and not competitive enough. It looked like men against boys at times.

"But we can't play experienced players when we haven't got them.

"Young players will get days like this because they are not consistent. We have to get back to the basics and see if we can improve next week."
