Burton Albion V Mansfield at Pirelli Stadium - Match Preview

Phillips blow for Brewers

Burton will be without the suspended Jimmy Phillips when Mansfield visit the Pirelli Stadium.

Phillips was sent off in injury time against Bristol Rovers on Saturday and the winger will serve a one-match ban against the Stags.

Michael Symes and Rory Delap missed the 1-0 win over the Pirates and both players are set to remain on the sidelines.

Striker Symes sustained a groin injury during the 2-0 defeat at Dagenham nine days ago. Delap suffered a setback in his recovery from an ongoing hamstring problem a couple of weeks ago. The former Derby and Stoke midfielder has not featured for Albion since a 2-0 home defeat to Oxford on September 7.

Mansfield will check on Lee Beevers and Lee Stevenson.

Defender Beevers and midfielder Stevenson and were both substituted as a precautionary measure during Saturday's 5-4 defeat to Fleetwood. Beevers was replaced on the hour-mark at Highbury before Stevenson was taken off just seven minutes later.

"Beevs wasn't feeling too well at half-time so we gave him 10 or 15 minutes, but we had to take him off," said Stags boss Paul Cox. "Stevo took a knock on the ankle. We'll assess them and see where we go from there."

Midfielder Jamie McGuire will serve the second game of a three-match suspension. James Alabi's three-game ban is now over, but so is his month-long loan spell and the young striker has returned to parent-club Stoke.
