Dearden hoping for Cash Boost

With the Stags boosted by the news last week that Liam Lawrence has joined Stoke City, triggering a sell on clause that was installed into the deal that saw Liam move to Sunderland, Billy Dearden is eyeing up some funds to bolster the Stags squad.

The Lawrence deal will net the Stags somewhere in the region of 125,000 pounds, and that coupled with the selling of fans favourite Richie Barker to Hartlepool for 80,000 pound, has seen Dearden look for some financial help from above "I have not spoken to the chief executive about the money situation yet but when I agreed to come back to the club I was told that money would be made available for me to bring players in.

"I am confident that we will be able to get things moving over the next week or two.

It of course remains to be seen how much of the cash boost is available to Billy for new signings.

"I would like to think that I could have at least one player in for the game against Hereford on January 13 but I don't want to start speculating."
