Speaking to the Mansfield CHAD after the game, Dearden said "It was disappointing to come back to Oldham and lose 4-1, but they were the better team on the night.

"We do not like losing and the lads are disappointed, but these things happen.
"Let's not forget, though, Oldham are a good side and they played very well.

"I thought we started brightly for the first 15 minutes and had a couple of half chances.

"But they scored a couple of quick goals and we went a bit flat.

"When we grabbed a goal we were back in it. But we were caught pushing too many men forward at the wrong time and we got caught at the back.

"We can play better than that. But we were up against a very good side who proved just how good they are.

"We didn't create as many chances as we did at Brentford but I didn't expect we would. But I did expect us to defend a lot better than that.

"The result won't harm us - we lost 4-0 at home to Huddersfield and that didn't harm us at Brentford. We will take the positives out of it."
