Derry who has just confirmed that his bid to lead a consortium of local businessmen into buying Mansfield Town, has gone in to the club, was delighted a day out in the sunshine led to the Stags producing a superb away performance, that could easily have led to all three points at Brentford.

He told the Mansfield CHAD after the game"I came here today thinking that if we got a draw we would have done very well, instead I feel we have really missed out and should have won the match.

"We have lots of clear-cut chances and should have won this match easily. We had the better of the match, but we did not take our chances and their keeper produced some great saves.

"If Brentford had somehow gone on to win they would have felt embarrassed by it, we were the better team by a mile.

Derry who was also rumoured to have nipped into a public house near to the ground prior to the game, to enjoy a pint with some of the 400 odd away support, went on "I could not be any happier with the performance we showed today, the whole team worked extremely hard in the heat and turned in an excellent performance.

"Michael Bouldings goal was a great goal and you will not see a better strike than that in the Premier League. He was superb throughout the game.
