Draws into Wins

After impressing supporters so far this season, the Stags still have only one league win under their belt, the 2-1 home success over MK Dons. Now midfielder Jonthan D'Laryea wants to start putting that right this weekend against Lincoln City at Field Mill, he told the Mansfield CHAD Website "We are unbeaten but the players don't feel we have done as well as we could have, especially with three draws.

"We have been a bit disappointed. We know we are playing all right so hopefully Tuesday's win will help boost our confidence.

"We need to turn good performances into wins and not just draws."

The midfielder cited one area the Stags could improve on is in their physical approach in League games "Physical strength is not the biggest aspect of our game and it is an area we have to improve on,"

"In League Two most of the teams are bigger and stronger and we have to prepare ourselves for the battle as well as playing our football.

"The gaffer told us that sometimes the game is won or lost in the first 15 minutes. You have to get on top physically.

"We are expecting a battle against Lincoln.

D'Laryea acknowlaged what Stags fans have had to put up with years, Lincoln's long ball tactics, whoever is in charge "The way they play seems to be about long balls and flick-ons and winning the second ball. With their height we are not going to win every header. So we have to make sure we are first to react to the flick-ons."

Former Stags midfielder John Schofield
Jon Schofield, him formerly of Stags.
is now head coach at Sincil Bank, with the Imps going out to Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup 1st Round - after extra time, losing 4-3. It remains to be seen if the playing of extra time will have any effect on the Imps Players come Saturday.
