O'S SKIPPER John Mackie epitomised the fighting spirit required by his side to see off a dogged Boston United on Saturday.

The 29-year-old centre-half, who required stitches for a head wound sustained during the first half, formed part of a defensive wall that registered a sixth successive Brisbane Road clean sheet, and is sure that the O's possess the required elements to remain strong over the last four weeks of the season.

"The next five games are going to be as much a battle as Saturday," he told the official Leyton Orient Website

"Obviously we've got Grimsby on Monday but the biggest one for us at the moment is Mansfield on Saturday.

"If we don't get three points there we'd be under tremendous pressure for Monday's game.

"The other results went our away for the first time in a long time on Saturday, so three points at Mansfield would set us up nicely for the Bank Holiday Monday."
