Speaking to the official Mansfield Town Website, Keith Haslam hints that Peter Shirtliff could be offered the position, but then goes on to say that if he is to appoint someone from outside the club, then he will need to interview 3 or 4 of the applicants he's had so far.

"If I went for someone from outside the club I have three or four people from the pile of applications that I would want to interview. Obviously Peter is very much in the hat and, although I have put no time scale on it, I would say I will sit down and talk with him in the next couple of weeks."
