Following an initial upturn in performances and results since he took over as Stags manager, Peter Shirtliff must now be a worried man over his teams recent run which has seen the Stags now just 6 points clear of the dreaded drop zone into the conference.

The defeat to Darlington was comprehensive and painful for the brave souls from Mansfield that followed the team to the TFM Arena.

A Quick look at the table sees that both Rushden & Diamonds & Stockport, who currently occupy the bottom two spots in the division, both have games in hand over the Stags. Indeed every team below the Stags, who sit in 18th spot, now have at least one game in hand over the men from Field Mill.

With things hotting up with the chairman off the pitch, in the form of a planned protest for the Macclesfield home game, supporters will soon start to really panic if results keep on like the one at Darlington.
