Duo doubtful for Stags

Jamie McGuire and Matt Rhead are injury concerns for Mansfield ahead of the visit of in-form Burton.

Midfielder McGuire had to come of at half-time against Cheltenham on Sunday because of a groin strain while striker Rhead, whose goal at Whaddon Road secured the Stags a first league win in 14 matches, is nursing an ankle problem.

Leading scorer Sam Clucas (ankle) and fellow midfielder Ben Hutchinson (hamstring) remain out injured.

However, the likes of John Dempster, Lee Stevenson, Ross Dyer, Lee Beevers, Lindon Meikle and Colin Daniel are options for manager Paul Cox should he wish to make any changes to his starting line-up against a Burton side who begin 2014 joint-top of the table and on a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Burton boss Gary Rowett expects to have an unchanged squad but must decide whether to make changes to his starting line-up.

Rowett named an unchanged team against Northampton on Boxing Day and then made only one change, bringing in Alex MacDonald for Chris Hussey, against Newport on Sunday so the likelihood is he will opt to freshen things up for a fourth game in the space of 12 days.

Midfielder Lee Bell is fit again after a hamstring injury and has been used as a substitute over the festive period while striker Rene Howe will be fresh to face the Stags after starting on the bench for the last three matches.

Hussey, Zander Diamond, Dominic Knowles and Marcus Holness are also options for Rowett, whose side begin 2014 joint-top of League Two behind leaders Chesterfield and second-placed Scunthorpe.
