Marriott poised for Stags return

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I've spoken to the manager [Duncan Russell] and we've agreed I'm not 100 per cent ready to go into playing a game.

"Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be pushing Neil Collett all the way."

The Stags have had a miserable time in the league this term.

Previous manager David Holdsworth left the club in November

and they are currently in 13th place in the Blue Square Bet Premier table and are outsiders to reach the play-offs.

But even if they fail go on a superb end-of-season run and push for promotion, the Stags could salvage something from their season by reaching the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Russell's side are away to Chasetown in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

But Marriott,

who moved to Field Mill in January 2009,

said it would not be right to return at the weekend.

"I don't think it's fair on myself or the rest of the team," he added. "It would be nice to ease myself back into the side."
