Portsmouth power past nine-man Mansfield

Carl Baker scored twice as Portsmouth beat nine-man Mansfield 4-0 at Fratton Park.

Gary Roberts netted his seventh goal of the season after just 10 minutes from the penalty spot after Kyle Bennett was fouled by Matt Green.

The visitors had a chance to equalise in the 28th minute when Ashley Hemmings picked out James Baxendale in the Pompey area but he could only direct his header on to a post.

Mansfield defender Kyle Howkins was given his marching orders by the referee in the 57th minute for a second bookable offence.

Substitute Alex Lacovitti was then given a straight red card after a late challenge on Pompey captain Michael Doyle in the 74th minute.

Noel Hunt sealed the victory for Portsmouth in the 84th minute before Baker got his first of the game four minutes later after weaving his way into the area and firing home.

With the last kick of the game, Baker scored his sixth goal of the season from 25 yards.
