Pressman Retires

KEVIN Pressman is quitting football.

The former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper is finally hanging up his gloves after more than 500 games.

Prezzie said there had been "no phone calls, no offers to play football.
"I can't sit around forever just waiting for the phone to ring. They say don't pack football in too early; it seems football has packed me in.

"I'm confident I could do a job at Championship level for a few seasons but that's not going to be.

"I was told a month before the end of the season that Mansfield would be okay to get another contract. At the end I was told there was nothing.
"That's the politics of football. As a player you don't want to get involved in that.''

The 38-year was last on the books at Mansfield but Pressman will be remembered for his nine years at Hillsborough. He clocked up over 400 League appearances for the Owls, becoming an established Premiership keeper.

He said: "My dream would be to go back to Wednesday as a player and coach and help them out of the difficulties they have now.''
He regards promotion and playing in the top flight with the Owls, along with England recognition, as the highlights of his career.
He won England Under-21 honours and England B caps.
He was released in 2004 and played at Leicester
