Reaction to Carling Cup Defeat

Peter Shirtliff:"I thought we were outstanding throughout the game.
"I thought we played better against Millwall than we did against Barnet last weekend and I've told them so.
"I've told them if they keep up that spirit and performance level then they will fly up the league. Now they have to take that into the game against Cheltenham on Saturday.
"We didn't deserve to lose that one by a long way. Even Colin Lee, their manager, said he couldn't belive they had won.
"If we keep playing like that the fans will come back in numbers and enjoy some successful days and evenings here.
"What spirit to come back from 2-0 down! We are definitely going in the right direction and looking a good side.
"It was a typical cup tie, settled by one of those wonder goals. It was unfortunate but it was Millwall's night."

Colin Lee:"I think Peter deserves the Mansfield job.
"He has done a terrific job and they have improved with every game under him.
"It's a big feat to get Mansfield off the bottom and he has done it.
"There is a lot of belief, understanding and spirit among the players.
"Peter has a method of playing and it works for him. It will be a shame if he doesn't get the job."
