Shirtliff & Cornforth Reaction

Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham after the game, Shirtliff said "Well, we made life difficult for ourselves at times, I thought we controlled the 1st half and we were comfortable in many respects. There was a spell in the second half were we dropped a little bit and allowed balls to be pumped into our box, which leads to the danger that the ball might just drop to one of their players"

"The 1st goal was a good free kick, we worked it well, scramble in the box and a poachers goal from Danny Reet, 2nd one, Simon (Brown) has got on the end of a clearance and finished it very well"

"We've just got to keep trying to get as many points from as many games as we possible can"

"It's a difficult pitch to play on here, difficult to turn and control the ball, for both teams it was a difficult game"

"I'm pleased for Simon, he's got on with it and gritted his teeth, he obviously needs the operation, but there might be a little problem with that, in slotting him in, we've heard recently that the surgeon might have a problem with the day we had booked him in for"

Asked if there was a chance Brown could feature in the local derby next week, Shirtliff replied "yes, there is, but i don't think he's up to a full game, but certainly part of the game"

"We get Jellyman and Coke back for the game next week, Day is also training strongly now"

Speaking to the Torquay Herald, John Cornforth said ""When I first walked in the door I said I couldn't understand why this squad of players was down in the position they were. "I've seen why in this game.

"Supporters will forgive mistakes if they see work-rate, but I think we carried about five or six players.

"I'm not going to name names, because they know who they are.

"There were a few home truth's said in the dressing room afterwards, because the majority didn't earn their money. I've seen a lot of things which I didn't like at all.''
