Palmer: Barker the key

Mansfield boss Carlton Palmer has revealed how Richie Barker proved the key to completing the signing of free-agent striker Adrian Littlejohn.

The 34-year-old Littlejohn has joined the Stags on a three-month contract with a view to a permanent move.

And Field Mill chief Palmer said: "It was Richie Barker who brought him to my attention.

"He is a mate of Adrian and I wasn't aware he was available but Richie spoke to him on the phone and brought it to my attention.

"He lives in Sheffield so travel's not an issue.

"He's joined us for training where he's looked sharp."
