Stags sign midfielder Stonehouse

Stonehouse was Rovers' captain and was the only player to appear in all of the club's matches last season.

He joined Forest Green at the age of 16 and signed his first professional contract in August 2005.

A statement of the Forest Green website said: "Rovers wish Paul the very best in his new environment and thank him for his loyal service.

"Due to his age, and that he had been offered re-engagement terms for the forthcoming season, Mansfield Town have agreed a compensation fee for Paul's registration.

"The amount involved will remain a private matter however between both clubs due to other players at this time being subject of similar possible transactions in and out at the New Lawn and Field Mill."

Stonehouse was the youngest player to make 100 Blue Square Premier starts for Rovers and in total made 177 first-team appearances.

He scored seven goals for the club, including one against Derby County in the FA Cup third round back in the 2008/09 season.
