Stags boss Peter Shirtliff is expecting big things of young goalkeeper Jason White next season while youth-teamers Nathan Arnold and Danny Sleath have agreed one-year professional deals.
Buxton, who himself emerged from the Mansfield youth ranks, said: "It's a good thing the younger players on the fringe of the first team get their chance at first-team football.
"I know that since I've been playing regular football I've grown up quite a bit and got a few games under my belt.
"It feels a little bit strange that I'm one of the more experienced players in the squad at the moment but it's a responsibility I have to shoulder and cope with.
"It puts a little more pressure on you but I was captain of the youth team and I enjoy the extra responsibility."
