Feature: It's oh so Quiet

For the past two home games, against Grimsby and Wrexham, it is interesting to note that not a single chant of anger has been aimed at chairman Keith Haslam, this despite the success of the march that took place before the Macclesfield game.

It is also, despite the fact that there are just a few remaining days left of the pledge period that Team Mansfield have runing.

So, is it because there is so much going on behind the scenes, that things have gone so quiet on match days, or is it maybe because those opposed to Keith Haslam, are staying away? Or maybe even Stags supporters have either given up or simply don't care that Haslam remains in charge come what may.

The two performances at home have certainly warrented the fans suppport, the players have been excellent, but if the supporters really do want change at the football club, then you go back to the old argument of when is it good time to have negative chants, if you look at it from a players perspective, then it's never going to be a good time. It all boils down to the fact, do supporters care enough for the well being of their club, and do they feel comfortable enough with the current regime.

Haslam, for his part looked relaxed on Saturday, as though things weren't bothering him that much, in his programme notes, he stated "I believe that it was no coincidence that the players turned out a great performance and got the right result against one of the top teams of this division. We must remember that we have a young and relatively inexperienced squad of players, and as such can easily be distracted. It is my belief that on Tuesday they were allowed to focus on the job in hand and not get distracted by negative chants and booing which is something they have had to contend with on a number of occasions this season."

As we'd expect, the club have perhaps tried to use the chants against the chairman, to strike back by saying it affects the players, but where else do the fans have chance to have their say ? Elsewhere in Saturday's programme, other people who work for the club couldn't help but have a little dig at those chanting against the chairman, Rob Ferguson for example says in his column "I can't help thinking that the fans played a big part in this result. (speaking about the Grimsby result) Conspicous by it's absence was the anti Chairman chanting, this was due to mainly to the fact the negative faction of our supporter base chose to stay away from the game"

Some outside influences of the club, who support the club through various means, have clearly not joined in the action to get rid of the Chairman, indeed some must be suffering from splinters from sitting on the fence that long.

It is clearly everyones choice to join or not join the bid to see the back of the Keith Haslam, but with the club also fighting back in this way, the divide between some supporters is begining to show.
