Mansfield 1-1 Oxford Utd- Match Report

Roofe on point for U'sKemar Roofe rescued a point for Oxford with a second-half penalty in an exciting 1-1 draw at Mansfield. The home side could only look back on a missed spot-kick of their own - the first they have been awarded for an incredible 86 games - that would have put them 2-0 up after just eight minutes.A thrilling first half saw Mansfield take the lead after just three minutes as Craig Westcarr marked his full debut with a goal.Ryan Tafazolli headed on a long Adam Chapman throw, it was half-cleared to Westcarr on the edge of the box and he drilled a powerful half-volley back through a crowded area and into the net.Mansfield were awarded their first penalty for almost two years shortly afterwards as Mitch Rose was brought down by goalkeeper Sam Slocombe after beating him to a ball into the box.Green drilled his powerful spot-kick down the centre but it came back off the crossbar.Green also drew a save from Slocombe after a powerful run in the 23rd minute.Oxford had rarely threatened but twice came close to an equaliser before the break.First Brian Jensen had to tip over a Roofe free-kick in the 38th minute, then another United free-kick routine saw Alex MacDonald drill low against a post. But they were level after 59 minutes when the referee adjudged Reggie Lambe had brought down Callum O'Dowda in the box and Roofe sent Jensen the wrong way from the spot.Roofe might have won it in the 75th minute but fired wide at the far post from a powerful, low George Baldock cross

Eight minutes from time it took a smart Jensen save, low to his right, to deny Danny Hylton after a great run
