A committed game at the picturesque Causeway Stadium in atrocious conditions saw Wycombe and Mansfield draw 1-1. The game extended Wycombe's disappointing run to seven games without a win despite them having the better of the overall encounter.

The first half was in truth a drab affair with few chances. The homeside's best efforts came on 37 minutes with an Ian Stonebridge header. The former Plymouth hitman got on the end of a Gary Silk cross but steered his header wide of the upright. The Stags responded positively and neat interplay between Colin Larkin and Alex Neil ended with Neil's sweetly struck shot well saved by Frank Talia in the Wycombe goal.

The visitors were out of the blocks like an Olympic sprinter at the start of the second period. Just 30 seconds had been played when skillful play by Larkin set up and easy chance for Derek Asamoah who finished with aplomb from eight yards.

Just 60 seconds later Asamoah brought a brilliant reaction save from Talia as Mansfield went for the jugular and put the game beyond Wycombe's reach. The Chairboys levelled on the hour Arsenal loanee Adam Birchall stroking home his fourth of season following a Wycombe free-kick.

With the game nearing its conclusion Wycombe skipper Stuart Nethercott wasted a golden chance to give his side three points but from inside the six yard box he smashed his shot from a Danny Senda cross well wide.
