Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo
, Bacon said "My recovery has gone well and I must thank physio Keith Oakes for all his work," said Bacon, who has played just two games for the Imps this season.

"I've played quite a few matches for the reserves now and my leg is getting stronger all the time.

"I certainly feel I am ready to push for a first-team place against Mansfield.

"Even if I just make the substitutes' bench I will be happy because I'm still determined to play a part this season.

"That decision is down to the gaffer, but I would be thrilled if I was involved - especially against my former club."

"I enjoyed my spell at Field Mill because it gave me a chance in League Two," said Bacon, who left for Hucknall in 2003.

"I was a local lad playing for a local side and, while I was there, it was great.

"But I have moved on now and you can't afford to keep looking back all the time.

"Lincoln are my club and I want to help them to pick up three points.

"We need a victory because we have had a couple of defeats - against Darlington and Carlisle - in the past 10 days.

"We need to get back on track - and quickly. The Mansfield game is just one of four we have left at home.

"It is important we win those to stand any chance of making the play-offs.

"I don't see why we can't go up because we have a good squad."
