Football OBE for new Stags chairman

NEW Mansfield Town chairman Peter Lee will take up his role at Field Mill next week just days after winning the OBE for services to football.

The former Football Foundation chief executive was resposible for the grant funding of many of the country's football stadia in the wake of the Hillsborough Disaster.

Outgoing chairman Keith Haslam, who will remain at Stags as chief executive, said: "I am very pleased for Peter.

"He has already won a couple of awards from the Football League in appreciation of his services to football and has now received one from the Queen's birthday list too.

"He deserves it and it just shows what a good choice he is to come on board here."

Mr Haslam added: "As he is one of the club's patrons I would also like to congratulate John Sankey on his MBE for his achievements in the local community and the sports arena."

Stags are back in full pre-season training on Monday and manager Peter Shirtliff is moving ever closer to bringing in three key new faces.
"Peter is chasing three players and two deals are all but tied up," added Haslam.

Mansfield Town are offering a chance to save money to supporters wanting to attend all three of the club's prestigious pre-season home fixtures.
Stags entertain Derby County (Wednesday, 19th July, 7.45pm), Forest (Saturday, 22nd July, 3pm) and Sheffield Wednesday (Wednesday, 26th July, 7.30pm) and admission to each game is £10 adults and £5 children/concession.

However, a three-match ticket is £25 adults and £10 children/concession.
Stags' hotly anticipated fixtures for the forthcoming season will be announced tomorrow.

Don't miss next week's Chad for a full cut out and keep list.
