Dale complete Clarke loan swoop

Rochdale have signed Hartlepool midfielder Darrell Clarke on a six-month loan deal.

The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract which will see him move to Spotland until January.

"We preferred to take him on a long-term loan rather than a month, to enable him to get settled," Dale boss Steve Parkin told his club's website.

"He may not be in the team to start with, but he's a good squad player and we need players like him."

Scunthorpe keen on Asamoah deal

Scunthorpe United are keen to discuss a deal to sign striker Derek Asamoah, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

Asamoah was released by Doncaster this summer and was brought to Glanford Park following the inury to Ramon Calliste.

The forward kept intact The Iron's unbeaten pre-season record with the only goal in their final pre-season game against Sheffield United.

And manager Brian Laws told BBC Radio Humberside that he has been impressed by the player during his trial period.
