"Peter has now left the club and that has come as a huge disappointment," Haslam told the Nottingham Evening Post on Friday.

Lee had only took up the position in June of this year, and comes on the back of increased pressure from supporters, unhappy with Keith Haslam and his handling of the Barker situation for one. Haslam went on "I don't think he anticipated the negative element of a certain section of supporters that has created more work and made it time-consuming to carry out his duties.

" I have talked to him about staying and helping us in some capacity. But he will no longer be chairman."

Team Mansfield however were not impressed with Haslam's reasoning behind Lee's departure "When will he take responsibility for things going wrong at the club rather than blaming groups of supporters?" Joint chairman Chris Vasper told the paper.
