Stags have gone or experience in their choice of 2nd keeper, Carl Muggleton is coming back to field mill, after plying his trade for the past few years just over the M1, now 37, Muggleton is expected to push Jason White hard during the upcoming campaign. Stags boss Peter Shirtliff told the Mansfield CHAD website this morning "This is a good signing for us, Carl will give us good experience and push Jason for a first team spot.

"He is looking in very good shape and has done well in training.

"He is another experienced player for our dressing room which is good. Carl has a great attitude to work and I hope it will rub off on Jason.

"I think Jason learned a lot from Kevin Pressman last year and we hope this is his year. Now he needs to kick on."

The signing of Muggleton means Shirtliff will now release the two international keepers who had been on trial last week, one from Poland and another from South Africa, Shirtliff said on them: "To be fair, the Polish lad surprised me and was much better than I thought he would be.

"If I had been at a club where they could afford three keepers I would probably have taken him and worked with him for six months. He had real potential and looked a decent prospect."

Both were being trained with the help of former Stags keeper Andy Beesley, who is working on a part time basis at the club.
