No Casino in Mansfield

The bid to build a casino at the side of Field Mill has taken a body blow, as the town was overlooked during the bidding process for one of 16 licences for a large or small casino.

After making it onto the short list of 31 authorities, the town has failed to win a licence.

The list for the 8 small casinos is:

Bath and North East Somerset

Dumfries and Galloway

East Lindsey

Luton

Scarborough

Swansea

Torbay

Wolverhampton

Whilst the 8 large casinos goes to :

Great Yarmouth

Hull

Leeds

Middlesbrough

Milton Keynes

Newham

Solihull

Southampton

And in a surprise decision, Manchester beat Blackpool and the Dome site in London for the race for the UK's first ever 'Super Casino'.
