Put up or Shut up

Stags director Andy Perry, who has said previously that he would be willing to bid for the club, following owner Keith Haslam's announcement that he would be willing to listen for offers, has now been told to put up or shut up in effect.

"We have decided that we need a decision quickly now - we need it within the next seven days," chairman James Derry told the Nottingham Evening Post on Thursday.

"There are around 150 full and part-time staff that could be affected, we are dealing with people's livelihoods here.

"If we don't get an offer in that period, then we don't want to go much further with it."

Dearry also insisted that the club would not be advertising nationwide that the club was up for sale, adding "The fear is that someone could come up from London and asset strip the club - and nobody wants that.

"You really want someone locally who is interested in the club and that is why we have only advertised locally."
