Russell is named Stags assistant

Mansfield Town have appointed former Blackburn coach Duncan Russell as the new assistant to manager David Holdsworth at Field Mill.The 52-year-old's appointment means that first-team coach Gareth Holmes will take up another position at the Blue Square Premier club.

Russell has worked for six clubs in the last 12 years, including Blackburn, Derby and Walsall.

"I know this club has a deep history with patriotic fans," he said.
