Stags manager demands improvement

Mansfield Town manager Duncan Russell was disgusted by his team's first-half display in the 3-2 comeback victory over bottom-of-the-table Histon. The Stags trailed 2-0 to 10 men at the interval before Louis Briscoe's superb hat-trick secured a memorable win.

But Russell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I don't know why it takes me to have a right go at them to get a response.

"They have been with me long enough now to know I am not going to accept that first-half performance."

Russell said he feared his players would suffer a hangover from the weekend's

FA Trophy heroics against Luton

but insisted he would not tolerate it.

"I think they knew they were in for it at half-time," Russell added.

"We did come back but against opposition who have gone down to ten me we shouldn't be going 2-0 down. It's not right, it's not good enough and I'm not going to accept it.

"The second half was totally different - it's the way we can play and once we got the first goal I was never in any doubt we would win the game."
