Paul Sturrock says Mansfield Town will provide a stern test for his Owls side in the pre-season fixture at Field Mill on Wednesday evening .

The Stags have been revitalised under the leadership of former Wednesday defender Peter Shirtliff and have already drawn with Derby and beaten Nottingham Forest in pre-season friendlies to date.

Sturrock said: "It will be a very hard game and I envisage a close result. Their results so far show they are flying."

Wednesday will name a strong line-up with only 13 senior players fit to play. Wade Small, Barry Corr and John Hills will all miss out but are hoping to play some part in the forthcoming games against Middlesbrough and Burton Albion.

Mansfield could include former Owls Matthew Hamshaw, Danny Reet and Richie Barker.

SWFC play their first friendly on home soil against former Owl Peter Shirtliff's side at 7.30pm and the Stags have asked travelling supporters to arrive well in advance of kick-off to prevent congestion.

Only a small number of turnstiles are available for use and the Nottinghamshire club are expecting upwards of 1,000 Owls supporters to attend.

Tickets for the game are priced £10 for adults and £5 concessions.
